I started at Reed Business Information in London, directing global publishing strategies and launching titles that grew revenue by over 30% in six months.
Then New Zealand. Bauer Media. Commercial Director. Taste magazine. Kia Ora. Then years of building brands and working as a fractional CMO.
The work was always the same at its core. Find the people you are talking to. Work out what actually matters to them. Then say it in a way they remember.
Then AI arrived. I realised that everything the technology was missing was exactly what I had spent two decades learning. Voice. Nuance. Audience intelligence.
Most AI marketing tools are built by technologists. I am a marketer who knows how to use the technology. That is a different thing entirely.
Marketing has always been about human connection. That was true before AI and it is true now.
AI has not changed what good marketing is. It has changed how fast you can produce it. The businesses winning right now are not the ones with the best prompts. They are the ones who understood their audience before they opened a single tool.
That is what I bring. Not just the technology. But also, the experience behind it.
Outside of work I am a reader, a lover of good wine, and someone who believes a well-told story can change a room. I grew up in a country where storytelling is woven into everything. That never left me. It is why the work I do always comes back to voice, connection, and saying the real thing rather than the safe thing.
